2007: Boston singer & guitarist Brad Delp committed
suicide by carbon monoxide poisoning at his home in Atkinson, NH. He was 55
years old.
2000: Pretenders singer Chrissie Hynde was arrested in New York City during
an animal rights protest at a Gap to protest the chain’s alleged purchase of
black market leather.
1991: The Clash reached the top of the U.K. singles chart for the first and
only time with Should I Stay or Should I Go which spent two weeks on top
after it was featured in a commercial for a jeans company.
1987: U2 released The Joshua Tree, the album that’s credited with turning U2
“from heroes to superstars” according to Rolling Stone. Its U2’s biggest
selling album to date with over 10 million copies sold in the U.S. alone.
1985: REO Speedwagon reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart
for the second time with Can’t Fight This Feeling for the first of three
weeks.
1981: Robert Plant performed his first solo concert since the breakup of Led
Zeppelin in Stourbridge, U.K.
1976: The second leg of The Who’s North American tour in support of The Who
By Numbers was postponed after Keith Moon collapsed onstage ten minutes into
their set.
Queen’s fourth album A Night at the Opera was certified gold by the RIAA &
later went on to sell three million copies in the U.S. alone.
