2006: Aerosmith canceled the remaining dates of their Rockin’ the Joint tour due to Steven Tyler needing throat surgery.

2005: Foghat guitarist Rod Price died of head trauma after accidentally falling down a flight of stairs at his home in New Hampshire. He was 57 years old.

1994: Ted Nugent recorded a PSA warning kids of the dangers of inhaling aerosol spray cans.

1986: Heart reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart for the first time with These Dreams, which spent one week on top.

1980: Pink Floyd reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart for the first and only time with Another Brick in the Wall, Part 2 which began a four week run on top.

1978: The Police signed with A&M Records. In lieu of a large advance, they received a higher royalty rate.

1975: Led Zeppelin’s double album Physical Graffiti reached the top of the Billboard 200 album chart for the first of six weeks, giving them their fourth number one album.

1971: In Jackson, AL, The Allman Brothers Band was arrested on charges of heroin and marijuana possession. The charges were later reduced to disturbing the peace and the band paid over $5,000 in fines and expenses related to the charge.
