2009: Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament was mugged outside of the Southern Tracks Recording studio in Atlanta. Ament and an employee of the band were robbed by three men, which smashed the windows of a rented Jeep and got away with over $7,300 in goods and cash.

2006: Keith Richards suffered a brain hemorrhage after he fell out of a palm tree while on vacation in Fiji with his family. Richards later underwent cranial surgery in New Zealand which caused The Rolling Stones to postpone their European tour.

2003: Iggy Pop performed in concert with The Stooges for the first time in 29 years on the closing night of the 2003 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, CA.

2003: Former Talking Heads singer and guitarist David Byrne made a guest appearance on The Simpsons who helps Homer Simpsons produce & record a song.

1994: John Mellencamp and Elaine Irwin had their first child together when their son Hud was born. This was Mellencamp’s fourth child.

1981: Wings announced that they were splitting up due to Denny Laine leaving the band. Laurence Juber and Steve Holley already left in February.

1979: Black Sabbath fired Ozzy Osbourne as their singer due to internal friction within the band. They shortly hired Ronnie James Dio, formerly of Rainbow to be their new singer. Osbourne later reunited with Black Sabbath for one-off appearances in 1985 at Live Aid & in 1992 at his farewell concerts & toured with Black Sabbath occasionally in 1997-1999, 2001, 2004 & 2005.

1976: David Bowie was detained for hours on a train at the Russian/Polish border after leaving Moscow. Bowie was detained due to Polish customs officers who took exception to the Nazi books & mementoes found in his luggage. The books & mementoes were research material for a film on Joseph Goebbels.

1975: Pink Floyd performed the final night of a five night stand at the Los Angeles Sports Arena. During the run, 511 audience members were arrested for marijuana possession.
