April 1st of every year as Cheap Trick Day in the State of Illinois.
2000: During Bob Dylan’s concert in Portland, OR, Professor Patrick Ladd a
British sign-language expert “signed” Dylan’s lyrics for the hearing
impaired.
1987: Guns N’ Roses performed their first concert outside of the U.S. at
London’s legendary Marquee Club.
1984: Tickets for Bruce Springsteen’s ten night stand at Meadowlands in East
Rutherford, NJ went on sale. In the first 24 hours, 202,000 tickets were
sold.
1982: The Steve Miller Band kicked off their first tour in three years in
Lake Tahoe.
1982: Joan Jett and the Blackhearts peaked at number seven on the Billboard
Hot 100 Singles Chart with their cover of Tommy James and the Shondells’
“Crimson and Clover”. It was their second top ten single in the U.S.
1977: Led Zeppelin played a concert at the San Diego Sports Arena in between
six concerts at Madison Square Garden & six concerts at The Forum in Los
Angeles. Jimmy Page was reportedly so out of it due to his heroin habit that
he was physically carried on the plane to San Diego.
1967: Paul McCartney admitted in an interview on British television that he
had taken LSD.
1965: The Kinks & The Moody Blues each made their American live debut at the
Academy of Music in New York City.
