2005: U2 won a court battle for the return of items in which former stylist Lola Cashman was accused of stealing, including a Stetson hat & earrings. Cashman claimed the items were given to her at the end of a U.S. tour.
1995: The Ramones released their final studio album Adios Amigos. Joey Ramone stated it would be their final album due to their disappointment of their modest commercial success.
1987: Bob Dylan and The Grateful Dead kicked off their co-headlining tour at Foxboro Stadium outside of Boston.
1987: Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers peaked at number twenty on the Billboard 200 Album Chart with Let Me Up (I’ve Had Enough) which went on to go Gold in the U.S.
1985: Dire Straits began a thirteen night stand at London’s Wembley Arena. All thirteen concerts were sold out.
1982: Ozzy Osbourne married his manager Sharon Arden in Maui. Ozzy would later state he chose July 4th to get married so he would remember the date.
1981: George Harrison peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart with “All Those Years Ago”. The song was a tribute to John Lennon & featured appearances by Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr.
1978: The first Texxas Jam took place at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. Aerosmith & Ted Nugent were the headliners on a bill that also included Van Halen, Heart, Journey, Eddie Money, Cheech & Chong & Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush. Ted Nugent passed out during his set due to excessive heat.
1976: The Clash made their live debut, opening for the Sex Pistols at the Black Swan in Sheffield, U.K.
