1998: Aerosmith’s drummer Joey Kramer was involved in a freak accident when his car caught fire & was completely destroyed at a gas station while filling up. He was treated for second degree burns & Aerosmith had to postpone 14 concerts as a result.
1989: While Pink Floyd performed on a floating stage in Venice, their audience of 200,000 ended up causing damage to Venice’s bridges & make marble crumble from centuries-old buildings.

1973: The Kinks’ Ray Davies announced onstage during a Kinks concert at London’s White City Stadium that he would be retiring from music. After the concert he collapsed at a hospital.
1972: Elton John began a five week run at the top of the Billboard 200 album chart with Honky Chateau his first number one album in the U.S. John also peaked at number six on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart with “Rocket Man”, John’s second top ten single in the U.S.
