1990: Billy Idol peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart with “Cradle of Love” which was Idol’s last top 40 single in the U.S.

1984: Phil Collins married girlfriend Jill Tavelman. During the reception, Collins would jam with Eric Clapton & Robert Plant. Collins & Tavelman would divorce in 1996.

1980: Pink Floyd began a five night stand at Earls Court in London performing The Wall which would only be performed live in its entirety by Pink Floyd 29 times.

1980: John Lennon began recording what would become his final album Double Fantasy in New York City at the Hit Factory.

1979: Dire Straits’ sophomore album Communique reached its peak at number 11 on the Billboard 200 Album Chart. The album had already been certified Gold.

1975: Robert Plant and his wife Maureen were hospitalized after a car accident on the Greek island of Rhodes.

1975: Rainbow released their debut album Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow which went on to peak at number 30 on the Billboard 200 Album Chart.

1970: Jim Morrison was arrested for public drunkenness in Los Angeles after falling asleep on a resident’s porch.

1966: Several American radio stations began pulling The Beatles records from their playlists after John Lennon’s “more popular than Jesus” comment.
