first time in 30 years with Modern Times which spent one week at number one.
2005: During a Motley Crue concert at the Phillips Arena in Atlanta, Vince Neil slipped off stage & ripped a calf muscle five songs into their set. They made up the concert in March 2006.
2005: CMT Crossroads featuring Bon Jovi and Sugarland premiered on CMT. Bon Jovi would have a hit with Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland the following year with “Who Says You Can’t Go Home”.
1996: Pearl Jam kicked off their tour in support of No Code at the KeyArena in Seattle. This would be their final tour where they performed at non-Ticketmaster venues.
1978: Boston reached number one the Billboard 200 Album Chart for the first time with their second album Don’t Look Back which spent two non-consecutive weeks on top of the chart.
1978: The Grateful Dead ended their three night stand in Cairo, Egypt. They were the first Western rock band to perform in Egypt.
1977: T. Rex singer & guitarist Marc Bolan was killed in a car accident in London when his girlfriend, American singer Gloria Jones lost control of her car & hit a tree. He was 29 years old.
1972: Peter Frampton made his solo live debut in New York City with his new backing band, Frampton’s Camel, supporting the J. Geils Band.
1970: Jimi Hendrix joined Eric Burdon & War onstage to jam with them at Ronnie Scott’s Club in London which would be Hendrix’s final public appearance.
