2005: Jimmy Page was made an honorary citizen of Rio de Janeiro for his work in helping its street children. In 1998, Page opened Casa Jimmy which had supported over 300 children.
2003: Jon Bon Jovi & Richie Sambora were announced as co-owners of the Arena Football League expansion team the Philadelphia Soul.
1995: Kansas singer & keyboardist Steve Walsh was charged with DUI, possession of cocaine and driving with a suspended license in Atlanta after crashing his car on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard at 4 p.m.
1992: While taping an edition of MTV Unplugged Bruce Springsteen decided to go electric instead reportedly due to Springsteen was unhappy with the touring band’s rehearsals of the acoustic arrangements.
1992: Def Leppard were forced to postpone concerts in Las Cruces, NM & Tucson, AZ after their sound-equipment truck was found abandoned. The truck driver Herschel Williams had attempted to rob an appliance store and was later charged with drug possession and causing criminal damage in Las Cruces.
1985: The first Farm Aid benefit concert took place in Champaign, IL to raise money for American family farmers. Artists on the bill included Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, and John Mellencamp.
1982: The Who kicked off their farewell tour at the Capital Centre in Landover, MD. They would later begin touring on and off again in 1989.
